Tomales Point is a lovely penninsula at Point Reyes. Round trip, the hike is 10 miles. There are many spectacular views of the coast, and the wildlife is diverse, including a large if shy herd of elks. Bring your binoculars to get a good view of the elks and coastal birds.

At the very tip of Tomales Point, we were about 20 feet above the crashing surf. Elliot said, "I can't believe this is here all the time." A wide variety of birds flew and roosted among the rocks. |
